Quenched Light Hadron Spectroscopy: Comparing the Wilson and O(a)-Improved Fermion Actions

چکیده

We have studied the light hadron spectrum and decay constants for quenched QCD at β = 6.2 on a 24 × 48 lattice. We compare the results obtained using a nearest-neighbour O(a)-improved (“clover”) fermion action with those obtained using the standard Wilson fermion action on the same gauge configurations. For pseudoscalar meson masses in the range 330-800 MeV, we find no significant difference between the results for the two actions. The scales obtained from the string tension and mesonic sector are consistent, but higher than those derived from baryon masses. The ratio of the pseudoscalar decay constant to the vector meson mass is roughly independent of quark mass as observed experimentally.

Light hadron masses with a tadpole-improved next-nearest-neighbour lattice fermion action

Calculations of hadron masses are done in quenched approximation using gauge field and fermion actions which are both corrected for discretization errors to O(a) at the classical level and which contain tadpole improvement factors. The fermion action has both nearest-neighbour and next-nearestneighbour couplings in the kinetic and Wilson terms. Simulations done at lattice spacings of 0.3 and 0....

Light hadron spectroscopy with O ( a ) improved dynamical fermions UKQCD Collaboration

We present the first results for the static quark potential and the light hadron spectrum using dynamical fermions at β = 5.2 using an O(a) improved Wilson fermion action together with the standard Wilson plaquette action for the gauge part. Sea quark masses were chosen such that the pseudoscalar-vector mass ratio, mPS/mV, varies from 0.86 to 0.67. Finite-size effects are studied by using three...

Quenched SU(3) hadron spectroscopy using improved fermionic and gauge actions

The Symanzik action improvement program has been proposed [1,2] as a way to reduce scaling violations in the approach to the continuum limit from a lattice action. In another contribution, we report on our preliminary investigations into the nature of scaling violations inherent in improved actions. In another proceedings in this volume[4], we make detailed comparisons of Wilson and tadpole-imp...

Quenched Hadron Spectroscopy with Improved Actions

The improvement of the lattice QCD action has become recently a main focus of research in lattice field theory. Improved actions for lattice QCD are designed to remove lattice-spacing artifacts in numerical estimates of physical observables. This allows to conduct the numerical calculations on much coarser and smaller lattices and thereby to substantially reduce the simulation costs. In this co...

Quenched Hadrons using Wilson and O(a)-Improved Fermion Actions

We present the first study of the light hadron spectrum and decay constants for quenched QCD using an O(a)-improved nearest-neighbour Wilson fermion action at β = 6.2. We compare the results with those obtained using the standard Wilson fermion action, on the same set of 18 gauge field configurations of a 243×48 lattice. For pseudoscalar meson masses in the range 330-800 MeV, we find no signifi...
